A woman with a low or low BMI is advised to gain between
28-40 pounds, a woman with a medium BMI or medium weight is recommended to gain
25 and 35 kg and an obese woman with a high BMI is only advised to gain 15 to
20 pounds. In cases where a woman has a very high BMI, or in other words obese,
she should not gain more than 15 pounds in total. Since these numbers are much
higher than those of a normal baby weighing many mothers they should ask
themselves why the need to gain more weight for a baby weighing 8 pounds. The
answer is that weight is divided between a variety of factors, at least in
terms of mother fat. For example, the placenta weighs about 10 pounds [1.5 kg],
the extra fluid and blood pressure of another 8 pounds, the amniotic fluid
weighs 2 pounds, the enlarged uterine size is 2 pounds, the large breasts weigh
2 pounds, and the large breasts weigh about 2 pounds. mother gains 5-8 pounds
in fat. This means that for a woman to have a healthy baby she will need to
gain about 30 pounds. As soon as the baby is born it will weigh down, but not
too much.
