development, though one should never expect to overcome depression with just
few meditations.

have different symptoms of depression. However, let us first see what are the

How Meditation for Depression Helps?
The crucial
aspect of any meditation for depression (and there are lots of them) is to
achieve the Alpha state of mind. Alpha brainwaves have 8 – 14 cycles per second
and cause brain relaxation and neutral state, which is a state when we are not
under stress.
With achieving
Alpha state by meditation for depression we receive energy and mental pattern
that go beyond all problems of depression. Blood pressure drops, heart rate
goes lower, while mind gets calmed. This is fundamental state to be achieved in
order to overcome depression.
How to Practice Meditation for Depression?
You can practice it many ways, but know that it is not a
simple breath meditation for relaxation. We offer you here one
pattern that can be upgraded by you:
Go to your meditation room, take your posture and breathe deeply and
rhythmically for about 5 minutes with the 4-2-4 rhythm. Imagine some scene or
place where you feel most relaxed. For example, let it be some mountain. Go
there with your mind, feel the wind, listen to birds chirping, and just relax
and enjoy.
This place
should be your sanctuary. Just sit and watch it: see the running waters, the
soft grass under you and the fresh mountain air. Become part of that place. Be
there as long as you can, and come back there every time you meditate.
The other aspect
is to proclaim positive self affirmations. Here are few examples: “I am calm
and relaxed and I love life. I am able to achieve high goals in my life. I am
in control of my thoughts and behavior. Nothing can disturb me.” And so on.
Practice Regular Meditation for Depression
It would great
for you if you can practice this once a day for 20-30 minutes. You know, nobody
can guarantee that you will beat depression with meditation only, but be sure
that you can have amazing results if you practice it regularly.
Meditation for
depression will get you away from your tensions. It is not escapism, but a
simple and effective way not to allow symptoms of depression to control you.
The point is you to have back the control over your life.
Never get discouraged,
never loss your will to help yourself. After few months (and sometimes even
after few weeks) of disciplined and proper meditation for depression, you will
again feel the beauty of life. You deserved it.
