Reselling Domains
If you plan to eventually
resell the domain name, then you want to research how similar domain names have
been selling. To do this you can do to www.tdnam.com. On this site,
you’ll see that there is a list of domain names that are being bid on.
Again, you’ll notice that
most of the domain names that are receiving high bids have just two or three
words in them. You’ll also notice that these domain names deal with a certain
theme.
So, if a domain name
about Spring Break is being bid on for around $50,000, it would be a good idea
to try to find a similar domain name that you could sell. The exact domain that
was being bid on when I looked was cheapspringbreak.com. So you could try to
think of things like: saveonspringbreak.com or springbreaksavings.com.
Ready to resell the domain name
When you’re ready to
resell the domain name, you should first price how much it should be
worth. If a .net of a name you own the .com for sells, you should expect to get
at least five times that price for your domain.
You can also have your
domain name appraised by a domain name appraisal site. But this costs you money
and there’s no guarantee you’ll find a buyer willing to pay the appraised
amount.
finally ready to sell domain name
When you’re finally ready
to sell, you can either set up your own page and sell it, or you can have a
domain broker do the work for you. Obviously you’re going to pay for the
domain broker, but he may be able to get you more money for the name. You need
to be honest about your own commitment and ability to sell a domain name and
decide from there.
For expired domains,
you’ll want to research how popular the website is. You’ll also want to check
out the links that are already pointing to the site. There are websites that
will help you do this or you can buy software that is often even more
helpful. Look up the domain on www.Alexa.com and see how it
ranks in regards to position and traffic.
